Clothing Workers’ Union Meets in Toronto, 233 Delegates Present

At the first business session of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers’ Union convention here yesterday, it was reported that there are 233 delegates, who represent 13 joint boards and 118 local unions in 22 cities in the United States and Canada. The session was presided over by President Sidney Hillman. Greetings were received from the Socialist mayors of Milwaukee and Reading, Pa.

At the afternoon session Ignatz Petrovski, labor member of the Polish parliament, greeted the convention on behalf of 350,000 organized workers in Poland. Jacob Panken, former Municipal Court Justice of New York City, received an ovation when he rose to greet the delegates and was presented with a bouquet of 50 roses, in honor of his fiftieth birthday.
