The action of several Jewish deputies and senators, members of the Club of Jewish Deputies, was censured by the Club in connection with the ceremonies opening the session of the Polish Sejm.
The Club had decided that its members absent themselves from the ceremonies as an expression of protest against the policy of the Pilsudski cabinet. Notwithstanding this decision. Senator Deutscher, representative of the Agudath Israel. Senator Bodek, representative of the Zionists. Deputy Hausner, the Mizrachi representative, and Deputies Feldman and Weinzicher, non -partisan, attended the ceremonies at the royal castle.
ROSENWALD ADDS $5,000 TO CHICAGO UNIVERSITY GIFTS
A gift of $5,000 from Julius Rosenwald toward the publication of two books, one on “Public Welfare Administration” and one on “Housing,” was announced by the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago Other gifts announced were:
From Mr. Jesse L. Rosenberger, a gift of $1,500 toward the memorial fund for Mrs. Rosenberger, and also a gift of $400 for the Susan Colver Rosenberger Educational Prizes.
From Mr. Sidney Loewenstein a gift of $500 toward the establishment of the Jane Morgenthau Memorial Fund.
Mr. Rosenwald has been a liberal benefactor of the University since its founding and is a member of the Board of Trustees. Earlier this year he gave a library building to the Oriental Institute of the University, which will be the headquarters of Prof. James H. Breasted while he is engaged in archaeological work in Egypt.
