A change for the better in the situation of Lithuanian Jewry is in sight, according to reports received here.
The reports state that a coalition government was formed in the Lithuanian parliament, consisting of People’s Socialists, Social Democrats and the national minorities. Negotiations are said to be in progress with the Jewish deputies concerning the reestablishment of the Jewish national autonomy in the Republic of Lithuania, the reopening of the Jewish National Council, the Kehillahs and the Jewish schools.
No Ministry for Jewish Affairs is planned. The Sejm will reopen on June 2.
