Nat Holman, president of the United States Committee Sports for Israel, today announced the appointment of Haskell Cohen of New York City, as basketball chairman of the US delegation to the 1973 Maccabiah Games in Israel.
Cohen, who was Director of Public Relations for the National Basketball Association for 19 years until his retirement two seasons ago, was basketball chairman for the Gold Medal teams at the Maccabiah Games in 1949, 1953, 1957, 1961 and 1965. He relinquished the capacity in 1969 when the US team lost to Israel in the finals.
Cohen is currently the sports columnist for the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
