The World Conference of Jewish Organizations (COJO). which concluded its meeting here, adopted a series of resolutions. One of them paid tribute to the heroic steadfastness of Soviet Jews who in the face of discrimination, harassment and intimidation have asserted their identity with their people and persevered in their endeavors to join their brethren in Israel.
The resolution also demanded the removal of all restraints upon the emigration of Jews desiring to leave the USSR and called for the restoration of Jewish religious, cultural and communal rights inside the USSR, as guaranteed by the Soviet constitution.
Another resolution reaffirmed full support for the State of Israel in its struggle for a just and lasting peace based upon contractually binding peace treaties; condemned the wanton and criminal activities of Arab terrorist organizations and those Arab stales which share the responsibility for these inhuman acts by enabling them to operate from their territories, and voiced deep concern that avowed Arab terrorist organizations are permitted to maintain offices in a number of countries.
A third resolution expressed solidarity with Jews still held as hostages in some Arab countries and called on Syria and Iraq to stop the oppression of the Jewish communities in those countries.
