The cost of living index rose in May by 6.2 percent, the Central Bureau of Statistics announced today.
The increase, twice that of last May (3.3 percent), brings the COL increase in the five months since the beginning of the year to 41.4 percent, up from the 35 percent increase during the first five months of 1981.
The Bureau said it was still too early to forecast the influence of this week’s price increases, following measures to help pay for the war, on next month’s COL index.
