A cold pogrom being waged against the Jews in the German minority districts of Czechoslovakia is assuming terrifying proportions, it is stated today in the Prager Mittag.
The paper reports that the population is being openly urged not to trade with Jews and is being terrorized into patronizing German shops purposely opened alongside of Jewish shops in order to oust the Jews from business.
In the smaller communities, according to the Mittag, the social boycott of the Jews is assuming disturbing forms, with Jews being shunned in the streets and Jewish children segregated in the schools.
In many towns, the walls of buildings and the pavements are smeared with the Hitler slogan, “Perish Juda, the Jews are Our Misfortune.”
Responsibility for the anti-Jewish agitation and boycott is placed by the Mittag at the door of Konrad Henlein, leader of the Nazi party in Czechoslovakia. The paper points out that, although the German party in this country is outwardly not anti-Semitic, the party’s organs, the Rundschau and the Zeit, do not accept Jewish advertising.
