Nabil Sha’ath, the Palestinian Authority foreign minister, spoke with the U.S. secretary of state on Wednesday, the day they had been supposed to meet in Washington. Sha’ath cancelled his visit after President Bush met with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and embraced some of Sharon’s proposals vis-a-vis the Palestinians.
