A petition with some 10,000 names, representing almost the entire Jewish community in Colombia, has been sent to Chile’s Foreign Minister protesting against the opening of an Arab League Office for Latin America in Santiago, Chile’s capital. The petition expressed the “deep unease” of the community that the Arab League’s activities will encourage rightist and neo-Nazi activities in South America where such elements have recently been involved in incident Against Jews and Jewish enterprises. Chile’s government is headed by President Salvadore Allende Gossens, a Marxist, who recently accepted an invitation to visit Israel.
