The Colonial Office is now giving consideration to the proposed lease of Transjordan land to Jews, Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister, Secretary of State for the Colonies, declared today in Parliament.

The statement was in reply to a question by Colonel Josiah Wedgewood who asked whether the Palestine Administration or the Transjordan government had offered any objections to the lease of land to Jews.

Sir Philip acknowledged that negotiations for the lease of a certain area of land in Transjordan had been carried on between Emir Abdullah and a Jewish group. “I am now considering the matter and am unable to make a further statement,” the Colonial Secretary declared.
