All Jewish shops and restaurants in the colonies of Shomron were closed for six hours today in mourning for the death of Baroness de Rothschild, widow of the late Baron Edmon de Rothschild, who was the father of Jewish colonization in Palestine.
The death of the Baroness was mourned throughout the country. The Tel Aviv municipality paid special tribute to her memory. Special services were held in all Tel Aviv synagogues.
Numerous messages of condolence were sent by Jewish institutions and leaders to James de Rothschild, son of the Edmond de Rothschilds, who is now residing in London.
