A special committee to negotiate with the government of Crimea concerning the possibilities of reclaiming an area of 200,000 hectares on the Sivash seacoast, near Feodosia, for Jewish colonization was appointed by the Comzet, government department for Jewish land settlement, and the Agrojoint, the agency of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.
The commission also includes a staff of scientific investigators. It was stated if this area is reclaimed and the land cultivated by Jewish settlers, a foundation for a Jewish district would be laid.
