An indictment against the policy of the Palestine government was made by Lt. Commander J. M. Kenworthy before his departure for the United States via England.
Commander Kenworthy stated that he was deeply impressed by the progress in Palestine, but he said it was his duty to criticize the “conservative and parsimonious Palestine government for its failure to extend the British trade influence to Palestine. There is no representative board of trade in the country there is not a single English commercial traveller visible. All the motor cars operated in the country are American. The ports are disgraceful. The government quarantine at Haifa is located at the edge of malarious swamp and make Ellis Island by comparison a hotel de luxe. The government treats the Palestine immigrants worse than animals,” he stated.
Commander Kenworthy further declared that it was the duty of every British imperialist to support the Zionist policy in Palestine, which is the only insurance policy for the defense of the Suez canal, he stated.
