The commander of Israeli police forces in Northern Israel was wounded today when a band of Arab infiltrees opened fire on the police car in which he was travelling on a patrol of the roads in the northern region. After an exchange of shots with the police, the raiders withdrew toward the Lebanese border.
A worsening of the shortage of bread and flour in Jordan has been reflected in increased smuggling of those items across the Israel border to the Arab state, it was learned here today. One of the major centers of the bread-flour smuggling business is the village of Beth Shafafa, half of which lies in Israel and half in Jordan territory.
