Commemoration exercises of the late Jacob H. Schiff, internationally renowned Jewish philanthropist, will be held at the Jacob H. Schiff Center on Friday evening, January 6th and Saturday morning, January 7th.
Dr. Louis I. Newman, Rabbi of Congregation Rodeph Sholom, will discuss “Jacob H. Schiff’s Contribution to Permanent Philanthropy” on Friday evening, while Dr. Solomon Lowenstein, Executive Director of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropies, will speak on “Jacob H. Schiff as I Knew Him.”
Mrs. Jacob H. Schiff, widow of the philanthropist, and Felix M. Warburg, his son-in-law, will attend the services.
The commemorative exercises are an annual affair arranged on the anniversary of the birth of Mr. Schiff. The Schiff center was erected as a memorial to the late philanthropist ten years ago.
Dr. Moses S. J. Abels of Temple Emanuel of Boro Park was elected president of the Brooklyn Jewish Ministers’ Association.
Other officers elected included Dr. Alexander Lyons and Rev. Nathan Rabinowitz, vice-presidents; Rabbi B. Leon Hurwitz, secretary, and Rabbi Joseph Miller, treasurer.
