The U.N. Commission on Human Rights today anthorized its chairman, Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, to receive communications concerning human rights addressed to it or other organs of the U.N.
Although the Commission has no authority to act on complaints, the communications will be brought to the attention of the Commission to aid its work. Before each session of the Commission, the Secretary-General will be asked to furnish the group with a confidential list of communications on human rights which have been received by the U.N. since the last meeting of the Commission.
It was announced that a conference of international non-governmental organizations will be held here between Feb. 10 and 14. One of the features of the conference will be a discussion of U.N. activities in the fields of human rights, prevention of discrimination and refugees.
