A statement disassociating it from the policies of the Mapam Party in Israel and from the Progressive Zionist League in this country was issued here today by the Committee for Progressive Zionism, organized more than a year ago in the United States and made up only of members of the Zionist Organization of America.
The statement points out that the Committee for Progressive Zionism “has absolutely no relationship whatsoever with the Mapam Party; nor with its associates in this country who have recently assumed the name of Progressive Zionist League; nor with their leader, Dr. Moshe Sneh, who, on their behalf, has come to the U.S. for propaganda purposes. The Committee for Progressive Zionism completely disagrees with the announced program and policies of the Mapam Party and of Dr. Moshe Sneh.”
(Morris Margulies, one of the leaders of the Committee for Progressive Zionism who is now in Israel, told newspaperman in Tel Aviv that the newly-formed Progressive Party there–composed of the General Zionists “A,” the Aliyah Hadasha and the Laborite group within the General Zionist party–is just the kind of a political group which American Zionists would welcome. The program of the merged three groups, he said, embodies precepts of the Hebrew prophets and the principles enunciated by Dr. Herzl.)
