A committee on one hundred leading Jews has been formed to celebrate in appropriate fashion the twentieth anniversary of Young Judaea, national Jewish youth organization, according to an announcement by Dr. Israel Goldstein, president of the organization. This committee will sponsor a series of celebration exercises which will be held in the large Jewish communities throughout the month of March. The largest of these will take place in New York City on March 30.
A list of the committee which has consented to serve indicates the interest that Young Judaea has aroused in all groups of American Jewry. The first and still the largest organization devoted to building up a Jewish education for the youth, Young Judaea has throughout two decades of its existence served as a neutral body which every Jewish point of view could support.
Nathan Straus, venerable philanthropist, is honorary chairman of the committee of one hundred to mark Young Judaea’s entry into the third decade of its career of usefulness to young American Jews. The honorary vice-chairmen are Dr. Cyrus Adler, Lieut-Gov. Herbert H. Lehman, Judge Irving Lehman, Louis Lipsky and Judge Julian W. Mack. The chairman is Clarence Y. Palitz, prominent New York banker, and the vice-chairmen include Irwin S. Chanin, former Congressman William W. Cohen, Rabbi Jacob Kohn, Rabbi David de Sola Pool, Mrs. Sol Rosenbloom and Mrs. Zip Szold.
