–Questions in regard to the concession for the exploitation of the Dead Sea minerals were again directed to the British Government by Col. Howard Bury, on record as opposing the granting of the concession to the Jewish engineer, Moses Novomeyski.
At Monday’s session of parliament, Col. Bury asked the Government whether any change had occurred in the position of the concession during the course of the last months. In reply, Col. Amery, Colonial Secretary, declared that the Government hopes to arrive at a final decision regarding the application which was accepted in principle some time ago. The concession is speculative, he added, and may prove valueless.
Col. Bury further stressed the value of the concession in view of the high price of potash. Mr. Churtle asked whether the Government would change its policy if the directorate of the Imperial Chemicals, Ltd. is changed. The question was not answered.
