Only a full survey can determine whether or not the economic position of the Arab and Jewish population in Palestine has improved during the period of Jewish immigration under the League of Nations mandate, the House of Commons was told today by Colonial Secretary William Ormsby-Gore.
Replying to a question on the subject, Mr. Ormsby-Gore said:
“The official conclusion of the commissioner for migration is that the question is open and must remain open until means are provided for conducting a detailed research into the variation from the standard of living and the real income in Palestine.”
