The anti-Jewish campaign conducted by the Communist authorities in the Soviet part of Germany has apparently influenced the German youth to such an extent that the authorities saw fit today to broadcast a special message to the 3,000,000, members of the German Communist Youth Organization urging them to make a distinction between Jews and Zionists.

The broadcast told the youth of East Germany not to “hate the Jews” but pointed out that “the real enemy” was the Zionist movement. It stressed that the Soviet and East German constitutions banned anti-Semitism. At the same time, the broadcast quoted Moscow newspapers describing the leaders of the Israel Government as a “pack of mad dogs.”

(The New York Times today reported that the Soviet Government has adopted a policy of banning Jewish technicians from strategic plants in border areas. This policy is being followed even in cases where it means that such plants must operate less efficiently than otherwise, the report said.)
