The anti-Jewish allegations which marked the recent “purge” trial in Prague as well as the statement published last Sunday by the Central Committee of East Germany’s Communist Party were condemned here today by Foreign Minister Anthony Eden in a radio broadcast in which he reviewed international affairs.
“I hope we are not going to see a revival under Communism of the evil racial persecutions conducted by Hitler,” the Foreign Minister said. He emphasized that one of the most ominous features of the Prague trial was its anti-Jewish tone.
Mr. Eden also expressed regret over “the long standing issue between Israel and the Arab states which has created a human problem of refugees on a tragic scale.” This issue, he said, is “a perpetual obstacle” to peace in the Middle East. “We have been and still are trying our utmost to eliminate it,” he stated.
