With reference to the report published by the “Daily Mail” of Communist activity in Palestine, the Central Office of the Zionist Organization states that this report is not to convey the impression that the extent of that activity is much greater than it actually is.

As a matter of fact, the Communists in Palestine, who were never a considerable group, have been reduced to a mere handful, owing to various deportations that have taken place within the last year or two. They are entirely without influence so far as the General Jewish Labor Federation (Histadruth) is concerned. Only a few months ago the latter organization declined to send representatives to Moscow to attend the tenth anniversary celebrations of the Soviet Government, and the four persons who did go as alleged representatives of Palestinian Labor had no connection whatsoever with the Histadruth.

In view of the unremitting persecution to which Zionists are subjected by the Soviet Government, there is not the least ground to fear that the Zionist workers in Palestine will be lured by any Bolshevik agents, avowed or unavowed, into joining any conspiracy inspired from Moscow. The former trade agent of the Soviet Government in Palestine was refused readmission to the country over a year ago, and no successor has been appointed. The Government of Palestine is doubtless fully acquainted with the movements of the few Communists in the country, and may be safely left to take such action as it may consider necessary, the statement of the Zionist Organization declared.
