Rabbi Louis J. Schwefel of the Sixteenth Street Synagogue was chosen chairman of the men’s division of the $35,000 United Palestine Appeal here, at a meeting of the administrative committee of the drive at the Jewish Community Center. Mrs. John M. Safer, former president of the Hadassah, the woman’s Zionist organization, was selected as head of the woman’s division.
Louis S. Spiegler, chairman of the administrative committee called on the drive leaders to start organizing drive teams at once. The campaign will start May 5 and last through May 19.
The annual dinner of the Washington Heights and Inwood Division of the United Palestine Appeal will take place on Sunday evening, April 21, at the Paramount Mansion, New York City. Morris Rothenberg, chairman of the Board of Directors of United Palestine Appleal, will make the principal address.
