That American Jewry will have to go on helping the Jews of Eastern Europe for at least another five years was the declaration made in Detroit on Sunday to delegates of the Michigan Constructive Relief Conference by Morris Waldman, who presented a report on conditions in Poland.
The call for the continued relief effort was seconded by David Brown.
Fred Butzel acted as chairman of the conference William Friedman welcomed the delegates.
Meyer L. Prentis, leader of the relief campaign in Detroit, submitted a report showing that Michigan had raised $233,000 of the $380,000 pledged. The amount raised, sixty-two per cent. of the pledges, was declared by Mr. Brown to be one of the best records of the States.
Resolutions adopted by the conference called upon the communities to immediately raise all outstanding pledges and wherever possible to increase the amounts raised.
