To Launch Baltimore Appeal Simultaneously(Jewish Daily Hulletin)
Although both campaigns will be separate efforts, the Associated Jewish Charities and the Community Found will conduct their drives for funds this fall simultaneously.
Both appeals will commence Nov. 11, according to a joint announcement by Sidney Lansbugh, president of the Jewish Charities and Dr. J. M. T. Finney, president of the Community Fund.
Four years have passed since the Jewish Charities made its last general appeal to the Baltimore Jewish community, Mr. Lansburgh declared.
“Dwinding resources and greater demands necessitated a campaign for funds this year.” he said. “The board. accordingly, decided to devote the week of November 11 to an appeal to the Baltimore Jewish community for financial support. The presidential election and the Jewish holidays made it impossible to have the campaign sooner, and it could not be postponed to any later date.
“Contributions to the Associated Jewish Charities will be solicited only Jewish Charities will be solicited only among our own people. but at the same time and support to the Community Fund. These two major campaigns will react to the advantage of both charitable organizations. Both causes are measure of support.”
Of the thirty-two member agencies of the Community Fund, none is either a Jewish or Catholic organization.
