Jewish workers are not accepted on the Soviet railways, the Charkov “Shtern” complains, emphasizing that despite a resolution of the Central Communist Party of Ukrainia that Jewish youth be absorbed into the railways systems, only 1,581 Jews are employed on the railways out of a total of 181,000 workers.
The “Shtern” points out that there is no prospect of an increase in “this insignificant percentage in view of the attitude of the local leaders.” The paper demands that those hindering the employment of Jews on the railroads be tried and that the government’s ruling be enforced.
