Leading Jewish institutions in Palestine are now planning to introduce compulsory recruitment of Jews between the ages of 17 to 45, it was revealed here today by H. Frunkin, leader of the Histadruth, addressing the 46th meeting of the Histadruth Council.
Estimating that twenty-five percent of the Histadruth members of military age have already enlisted either in the armed forces or in the civilian defense organizations, Mr. Frunkin stated these include 5,200 from the Jewish agricultural settlements alone, in addition to city residents.
