The funeral of a Jewish scholar was turned into a public demonstration against the anti-Semitic movement in Eastern Europe. The funeral of Professor Ludwig Spiegel, a Jewish man of letters, who was recently appointed a professor at the German University in Prague, was held at the Jewish cem###tery here yesterday. Huge crowds attended the funeral.
Leaders of the democratic German elements in Czechoslovakia delivered addresses in which anti-Semitism was condemned. Professor Masaryk, president of the Czechslovakian Republic, sent a message of condolence to Dr. Spiegel’s family.
