The condition of Hillel Zlatapolski, noted Zionist leader and one of the founders of the Palestine Foundation Fund, who was shot yesterday, is reported to be critical today.
Zlatapolski was shot in his room by a Frenchman, Leon Leval, a former director of Zlatapolski’s sugar factory. Leval then turned his pistol on himself and committed suicide.
Leval is believed to have lost a considerable sum in the bankruptcy of the sugar factory and his business troubles caused his act.
Zlatapolski is sixty-two years old.
