Condoleezza Rice said she would do what she could to help free three Israeli soldiers kidnapped by terrorist groups last summer. The U.S. secretary of state met Tuesday with the families of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, captured by Hezbollah in July, and Gilad Shalit, taken by Palestinian gunmen in a June 25 border raid. “The meeting was very warm,” said Karnit Goldwasser, Ehud’s wife. “She promised us to deal with the issue.” Rice had no new information on the fate of the soldiers, the families said. The families asked that Rice bring up the issue in as many international venues as possible, including the upcoming Arab League summit in Saudi Arabia.
