Condoleezza Rice said she would press Russia to return precious documents belonging to the Chabad movement. Chabad recently sued the Russian federation after discovering that the bulk of the Chabad library — 12,000 books and nearly 400 manuscripts left behind in Warsaw in the 1940s when the movement’s leader, Rabbi Joseph Isaac Schneerson, fled the Nazis — had been seized by the Soviets.
