Conference for Organising Jewish Relief on a World Scale Opening in Carlsbad on August 21st

The second Jewish World Relief Conference will open definitely in Carlshad on August 21st, it is announced here by the Executive of the Jewish World Relief Conference, which is convoking the conference. Sixty-five Jewish organizations of nineteen different countries have already written that they are sending representatives to the conference. Among the delegates who will attend are Dr. Chajes, Chief Rabbi of Vienna, Dr. Deutsch, Prof. Max Heissler, and Hessrs. Max Markus and Heinrich Pappenheim, (Austria): Mr. Lyon Cohen (Canada); Dr. Ludwig Singer, President of the Jewish National Council in Prague, and Dr. Emil Weismeyer (Czecho-Slovakia); Dr. Kaelter Chief Rabbi of Danzig; Chief Rabbi Prof. D. Simonsen (Denmark); Mr. Van Raalte (Holland); Dr. S. Rosenbaum, President of the Jewish National Council and ex-Minister for Jewish Affairs, and Mr. Brudny, President of the Central People’s Bank (Lithuania); Prof. Pick, member of the Palestine Zionist Executive and Mr. David Yellin, President of the Jewish National Council (Palestine) Deputies Gruenbaum, Priluzki, Silberschein, Rosmarin and Hme. The Conference is called to consider the establishment of a Jewish World organization for social relief work. A proposal will be submitted that the Jewish World Relief Conference cease to exist in its present form and he extended into a relief organization which will embrace as far as possible the whole of world Jewry. It is pointed out that in the various countries the sums raised for Jewish relief work exceed the budgets of some of the smaller European states. The joint Distribution Committee of America alone has expended about sixty million dollars on relief and reconstruction work. Throughout the world about 200 million dollars are spent annually for Jewish relief and welfare work. The initiators feel that if the Jewish communal organizations and philanthropic societies unite into an interterritorial Jewish federation and appropriate to its funds only one or two percent of their incomes, a sufficient fund will be created to conduct Jewish social relief work on a world acale.
