An Arab delegation of seventy headed by the Grand Mufti returned today from Amman after fruitless consultation with Emir Abdullah, Arab ruler of Transjordan, who has been attempting to mediate between the Government and the Arabs to end current disorders and the general strike.
It was understood no decision was taken on halting the sixteen-week-old strike because of dissension among the Arab leaders. The moderates urged cessation, but the extremely Nationalistic Istaqlalists insisted on continuation of the strike, arguing that it would force the Government to grant Arab demands for suspension of Jewish immigration, prohibition of land sales to Jews and a national government.
