Resolutions urging the continuation of the tasks of the Jewish Social and Cultural Association of Poland and calling for the “integration” of Polish Jews “into the life of the new society” but, at the same time, “preserve the Jewish heritage and pass it on to the next generation, ” were adopted here yesterday at the conclusion of the fifth national convention of the association.
The parley had been attended by 300 delegates from 35 cities and towns all over Poland. Present also as guests were representatives of the Polish Communist Party, various Government departments, the Warsaw City Council, the Yiddish Theater, student organizations and several trade unions. The Polish Government Minister of Culture sent a message to the convention, stating:
“The Jewish Social and Cultural Association has made a notable contribution to the economic, social and cultural life of the country. I am convinced that your convention will help further to enrich the cultural life and will bring the whole of the Jewish population even closer to the tasks ahead.”
