A fund of $500,000 to aid Jewish refugees from Lithuania scattered throughout the world will be raised here, it was decided yesterday at a conference of the Federation of Lithuanian Jews held at Hotel Picadilly. About 100 delegates representing various groups of Lithuanian Jews in the country attended the conference.
It was estimated by speakers at the gathering that about 10,000 Lithuanian Jews are now in Russia. The majority of them are in Turkestan and are in need of immediate relief. Some of them have received food packages through the Joint Distribution Committee. About 8,000 packages were also sent to Lithuanian Jews in Russia by the Federation of Lithuanian Jews in Palestine.
