More than $1,250,000 in advance cash was made available here to the United Jewish Appeal at a regional U.J.A. conference addressed by Mrs. Helen Gahagan Douglas, Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz and Morris W. Berinstein, chairman of the National Campaign Cabinet of the U.J.A.

The speakers told the 500 delegates from 31 communities in New York states, assembled at the Syracuse Hotel, that maximum effort must be made by American Jewry to bring to Israel the Jews from Iraq who must leave their country by May 31, the deadline of emigration set by the Iraqi Government.
