A three-day National Conference on Judaism and American Democracy will be held at the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati on Oct. 16-18, Dr. Julian Morgenstern, president of the College, announced today. He said that invitations have been sent to leading men and women in the religious, communal and educational fields to attend the conference which will be the first of a series of events marking the institution’s seventieth anniversary.
During the conference, papers will be given on the “Origin of Democracy and Judaism,” on “The Democratic Principles in Judaism and Modern Times,” and “Sources of American Democracy.” Three seminars on sources subversive to American Democracy, on “Exploring Philo-Semitism” and “The Contributions of Judaism to American Democracy” will be held. A plenary session, at which leaders in education, labor, social planning, industry and public opinion will discuss vital issues under the general theme, “Aspirations and Programs of Jews and Judaism Toward the Fulfillment of American Democracy,” will meet on the last day of the conference.
