A conference on the role of Judaism in the modern world, convoked by the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, will open in Chicago on April 19, it was announced here today by Dr. Louis Finkelstein, president of the Seminary.
The announcement stated that the persecution of Jews abroad has placed on the shoulders of the Jews in America the major responsibility for the preservation of Judaism. “Just as in the past, when the light of Judaism passed to Eastern Europe after the expulsion of Jews from most of Medieval Germany, so today Jewish learning and Jewish leadership must develop in America in order that Judai.
