The confiscation of all property belonging to Jews in the Italian city of Genoa was announced today over the Fascist Republican radio.
The broadcast also announced that a 58-year old Italian priest, Gianantonio Agesti, has been arrested by the Fascist authorities in Milan “for taking advantage of his religious office to help Jews.” Father Agosti, who served as professor at the Nilan Cathedral for twenty-seven years, is charged with providing Jews with “false identity documents.” The Fascist radio also claimed that “extensive correspondence with Jews was found in his possession” and that he gave shelter to Jews in a convent.
