Confusion remains as to who is the PLO representative in Washington. Hanna Siniora, a moderate Palestinian businessman, says he will become the new representative beginning Oct. 1. However, Hassan Abdel Rahman, who has held the position for 10 years, told JTA that “there is no appointment, period,” and that he will remain the PLO representative for the forseeable future. Siniora said he was due to meet with Rahman on Tuesday evening to “convince him that this issue be best resolved internally.”
