The General Council of the Congregational Christian Churches, which is meeting here, yesterday attacked the recently passed DP immigration bill as “highly restrictive and ineffectual.”
Reiterating its previous demand for the admission of 400,000 DP’s to this country over a period of four years, the Council declared that it is “opposed to the discrimination according to nationality, religion, geographical origin and occupation as provided in the present bill.” The measure has a number of stringent limitations which in effect bar all but a small number of Jewish and Catholic DP’s.
