The House today applauded an attack on the German-American Bund by Representative John A. Martin of Colorado, who declared that “every man who attended the (Madison Square Garden) meeting and sympathized with it is a trator to American Government.” He said the Bund members wore the “uniform of the greatest enemy in the world of everything that George Washington stood for and that America typifies.” Terming the Nazis the “swaggering minions of a pagan dictator,” he said that when he read of the New York rally he had “to pinch myself to be sure I was awake and in America.”
