The Administrative Committee of the American Jewish Congress tonight approved in principle a proposal for the summoning of a Pan-American Jewish conference grouping the representatives of the Jewish communities of the United States and South American countries.
The proposal was submitted to a meeting of the Administrative Committee here on behalf of the South American Jewish communities by Rabbi J.X. Cohen, who has just returned here from a three-month tour of Brazil, Uruguay, the Argentine, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. The Administrative Committee named a committee to make preparations for the summoning of such a conference after consultation with the appropriate authorities.
