A number of prizes for literary works in Yiddish were announced today by the Congress for Yiddish Culture at its annual dinner. The prizes covered a variety of literary activity, from books published in 1955 to doctoral dissertations on Jewish subjects now in the works.
The winners of the awards, which ranged from $150 to $500, included: Dr. A. Mukdoni, Ephraim Auerbach, Beirish Weinstein, Jacob Beller, Dr. Emanuel Pat, Yosel Biersteim of Israel, Rose Palatnik of Rio de Janeiro, Hinda Levi-Lissner of Tel Aviv and Herschel Tobiash of Stanfora University.
