Rep. Louis B. Heller, of New York, today introduced a bill in the House which would award a Congressional Medal of Honor to the late Al Jolson.
A few weeks after he returned from entertaining U.S. troops in the Korean area, Jolson died of a heart attack. Rep. Beller told Congress that Jolson, “without regard to his health, unselfishly and unstintingly gave his health to entertain members of the armed services in and around Korea.”
