Rep. Richard Schweiker, Pennsylvania Republican, introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives today, calling for an end to discrimination in the assignment of United States employes to overseas posts, and citing anti-Jewish bias in assignments to Arab countries. He said the State Department has admitted distinctions between Jewish and non-Jewish employes in its assignment policy.
Rep. Schweiker charged surrender by the State Department to Arab prejudices. The concurrent resolution he introduced would express “the sense of the Congress that the President should take such steps as may be necessary to assure that the assignment of United States employes in the United States and at posts abroad shall be made without regard to race, religion, color, or national origin.”
