Rep. Leonard Farbstein, New York Democrat, today introduced a bill to grant time off to Government employes for the observance of Jewish and other non-Christian holidays.

Mr. Farbstein told the House of Representatives that “in this country of many religions, it is clearly inequitable for all Government employes to be given time off only to celebrate Christian holidays.” His bill would allow Government workers to choose the days off that coincide with their own religious convictions. The bill would require employes to make up any time they took off, although the time would not be deducted from annual leave.
