Senator Jacob K. Kavits, New York Republican, and Rep. Emanuel Celler, New York Democrat, joined today in introducing in the Senate and House a concurrent resolution acclaiming Israel’s tenth anniversary and calling for appointment by President Eisenhower of a delegation to represent the United States at anniversary ceremonies in Israel.
The resolution called for it to be resolved by the Senate with the House concurring “that the Congress of the United States extend its most cordial greetings to the people of Israel and their government on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of their national independence in recognition of the democratic ideals held in common by the United States and Israel and in reaffirmation of the friendship of the people of the United States for the people of Israel.”
It also provided for a request to the President for appointment of a U.S. delegation at the appropriate time to represent the United States at ceremonies marking the tenth anniversary of Israel’s independence.
