The House of Representatives late today passed a bill to give $16,000,000 to aid Arab and Jewish refugees in Palestine and the surrounding area. The measure has already been approved by the Senate.
An attack on the measure was made by Rep. John Rankin of Mississippi who objected to “pouring United States dollars down the ratholes of Europe, Asia and Israel.” He was halted by House Majority Loader John MacCormack who declared that he had “nothing but contempt for a person with a bad, low bigoted mind.
